The Slovenian Cultural Centre in Berlin was set up in June 2016, it operates at the [Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Berlin]. As the Slovenia's National Culture Programme for 2014-2017 envisages a network of cultural centres across the world, this is the second cultural centre Slovenia established abroad, the first one being the Slovenian Culture and Information Centre in Vienna (SKICA).

The Slovenian Cultural Centre in Berlin should become a central forum and a representative of Slovene cultural activities in Germany as well as a catalyst of new international projects. Its purpose is to create a synergy among Slovene institutions and organisations and German cultural institutions, producers and venues, to foster cooperation efforts, and to facilitate communication. in all fields of arts as well as cultural heritage

The Slovenian Cultural Centre will support and promote artistic projects from all art disciplines and also cultural heritage presentations in Berlin and other cultural centres round Germany.


Slovene artists, writers, translators, curators, critics or producers have an opportunity (via an annual open call of the Ministry of Culture) to get for one month the apartment in Berlin, see also the Slovene Arts & Culture Residency, Berlin.
